Monday 5th March sees the beginning of National Careers Week around the UK, National Careers Week aims to shine a light on the help, advice and opportunities that are available to students once they have completed secondary school. The idea behind the event is to empower all our students from Year 7 to 11 and enhance their knowledge about the different pathways available to them such as Further Education, Higher Education, Apprenticeships and Employment.
Throughout the week The Careers and Enterprise team have put together a series of CEIAG opportunities for all students to engage in.
We have asked Senior Leaders, Subject Teachers and Support staff to explore some of their previous jobs to all students who will then be involved in an interactive quiz during the week to guess some of the unique jobs our members of staff have had in their previous careers and the skills they obtained.
We have invited representatives from Barnsley College who will be on hand during lunch breaks to discuss Post 16 Pathways, we have members of the Job Centre Plus team who will be available to give informal chats about Apprenticeships and Employment..
Finally the Careers & Enterprise Team will be leading activities throughout the week in the LRC during breaks and lunches; these include careers based quizzes, interactive games, a Barnsley College competition as well as all the online resources that will be available on IPads.
